Get Smokey Eyes

Get Smokey Eyes

http://z.about.com/d/beauty/1/G/Q/I/smokeyeyes.JPG
Smokey eyes have been a big style for quite awhile and there's no sign this particular trend is dying. Here we show you step-by-step instructions on how to get the perfect smokey eye.

The key to the perfect smokey eye is proper blending. You want to make sure colors are blended together flawlessly. Also, it's important to pair light base colors with rich dark colors. Nice mixes include: Soft gold base with deep purple on top, champagne base with bright blue and peach base with green hue.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 5 minutes

Here's How:

  1. Prep the lid. The key to keeping eyeshadow from melting into your eyelid crease as the day goes on is to kept eyelids oil-free. To do this start with an eyeshadow base (also called "primer"). I prefer to dab at bit of MAC's 'paint' on lids before shadow application. Or try Fresh Freshface Perfecting Eye Primer.
  2. Apply eyeliner. If you're going for a typical black, brown or gray smoky eye, apply liner in one of those colors above the upper lash line, drawing line thicker in the middle of eye. If your opting for a jewel-toned eye (violet makes a gorgeous smokey eye), line eyes with a purple, blue or deep green liner.
  3. Blend in color on bottom lashes For color on the bottom (a key smokey eye look) you'll want a lighter eyeliner. The key is to "smudge it." You can also apply a bit of shadow to get full smudge effect.
  4. Apply light base color Again, the key to a smokey eye is pairing a lighter base with the darker hue. I prefer a nice cream shade for my base. Sweep a light, shimmery shadow over the lids to your browbone. I love Stila's whipped eye shadows $20. The moist "mousse" consistency seems to stay on forever. My favorite colors are taupe and pearl.
  5. Blend in darker color, but keep dark color below the crease. Now that you have the base and eyeliner on, it's time to get the smoky effect. You need a darker eyeshadow shade. Using an eyeshadow brush blend in color starting at your lash line, blending up. Make sure to blend color into the lash line so the eye liner disappears. Stop deep color at crease.
  6. Doublecheck your work Make sure eyes match and blend color with a Q-tip if need be.
  7. Finish with several coats of volumizing mascara. Tried and true mascaras (featured in "Elle" magazine) include DiorShow Mascara & L'Oreal Paris Volume Shocking Mascara. Elle's writer says they are the best volumizers she's tried.

Tips:

  1. Remember to keep lips nude. When applying strong makeup (like smokey eyes or red lips) put the focus on either eyes or lips, never both. (Think Angelina Jolie: She either plays up her huge eyes or her huge lips, never both. If she did, she'd look like a clown).
  2. For a bit of fun, try a blue or purple mascara. It will make blue eyes "pop."
  3. Liner doesn't have to come in pencil form. Makeup experts know eyeshadows make some of the best eyeliners. To do this take an eyeliner brush (available at Sephora, MAC or any dept store), wet it, then dab wet brush into the dark shadow. This allows for a deep, precise line. You can also use the dark shadows without wetting brush first. Either way, eyeliner is necessary for smoky eye.
  4. This season go jewel-toned (blue is great for you blue-eyed girls) and keep your eyes smoky but stay away from dark browns and black. Instead, go for a deep purple, a gold-brown or any of the many vibrant colors in this year.

What You Need:

  • Eye primer (you don't need it, but it's great for keeping shadow in place)
  • 2 Shadows: One light, one darker
  • Eyeliner
  • Makeup brushes
  • Mascara

How to Wash Out Your Makeup Brushes

How to Wash Out Your Makeup Brushes
http://www.expertmakeupartist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Make-up-Brushes.gif
I have a confession to make. I rarely clean my makeup brushes. It's just one of those things in life that falls by the wayside as other things take priority like flossing every other day or changing the filter on the furnace every few months.
Last week, I finally did it. I washed all my makeup brushes when I found myself on deadline and wanted an excuse to procrastinate. You and I really should be washing our makeup brushes once every month or six weeks. I used my Purpose facial cleanser to clean my brushes. Any mild soap or shampoo will work. After I washed the brushes by swirling them in a cup of cleanser and water, I gently dried the brushes in a towel. You can even blowdry the brushes with a blowdryer, but I left mine out to airdry before putting them away.

Improve Your Appearance with food

Improve Your Appearance with food

You’ve seen the advertisements of women lounging with wrapped up hair, cream covered skin, and cucumbers over their eyes. This wasn’t just to enhance relaxation by blocking the light. Cucumbers, along with other items commonly found in your refrigerator, are a home made alternative to some of the skin and beauty products you’re used to.
beauty How Food From Your Fridge Can Improve Your Appearance
Cucumbers sliced and placed over your eyes have long been used as treatment to decrease puffiness. Their high water and sodium content help to cool your skin while pulling the excess water from around your eyes, resulting in a smoother and less puffy appearance. Make sure you thoroughly wash the cucumber before putting it anywhere near your face.
beauty How Food From Your Fridge Can Improve Your Appearance
Something else you’re probably familiar with for non beauty reasons is caffeine. Also an at home puffy-eye remedy, tea bags are used in place of cucumbers. Other skin products are now listing caffeine as an ingredient to be applied beyond just your face. While it can decrease the redness of your skin, many are using it in creams and lotions that target decreasing cellulite.
As your skin is soaking up cucumbers or tea, the dryness of your hair might start to seem painfully obvious. Deep conditioners can get very expensive, and often leave you with the same brittle hair you had to begin with. Mayonnaise is much cheaper, and is widely recognized as one of the best ways to liven up your hair and give it an optimal sheen. The common consensus is to go for the heavy stuff—skip the “lite” versions when it comes to your hair. Leave it in for up to a half hour, but find the duration that is best for you.  If the smell is absolutely unappealing, a small amount of vanilla extract is recommended to dull it a bit.
As unconventional as using food for beauty may seem, many swear by using their own home made products, and these have stood the test of time for a reason.

FOOD FOR FACE
TEA

Steep a pair of Earl Grey teabags in boiling water, run them under a tap and
place over eyes for 10 minutes before night out.

Use four bags of chamomile tea. Leave them to steep for 5 minutes then hold
your face over the bowl.

Freeze cooled chamomile tea in an ice-cube tray. When set, remove cubes and
run over your face.

Soak some gauze in cooled green tea and apply on skin the way you would a
toner.

OLIVE OIL

Heat a cup of olive oil in the microwave for a few seconds. Massage onto dry
areas of your skin.

Heat enough olive oil to fill half a small clothes basin. Soak your hands in the oil
for about 10 minutes, followed by the feet.

Use it as a conditioner by leaving warmed olive oil on your hair for 15 minutes
before shampoo.

Remove all traces of mascara by dipping an overused mascara wand into some
olive oil and use it to apply on your lashes the way you would mascara.

CUCUMBER

Chop up a cucumber and drizzle a few drops of lemon juice in the mixture. Apply
on your face.

Soothe tired eyes by cutting two rounds and place them on the eyelids.
Rub down hot skin with a mixture of chopped cucumber, olive oil and plain
yoghurt.

LEMON

For sparkling teeth, mix one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice with one teaspoon of
bicarbonate of soda and half teaspoon of salt. Use like toothpaste – once a
week.

Lighten the skin and smoothens rough edges of elbows and knees. Cut a lemon
into two halves and rest your elbows in each half for 15 minutes. Or squeeze
juice of lemon and apply on your knees.

TOMATO

Peel a tomato and chop it finely before spreading on face. Work as an effective
cleanser and gentle astringent to tighten pores.

ORANGE

Squeeze juice of an orange and mix with a tablespoon of plain yoghurt. Apply on
face, avoiding the eye area. Rinse off after 10 minutes and splash face with cold
water.

POTATOES

A great way to get rid of dark undereye circles. Run a large potato in a blender.
Squeeze the pulp to get rid of excess juice and form two patties from it. Place the
patties over your eyes and keep them there for 10 minutes.

APRICOTS

Pound the kernel and add body lotion to blend into smooth paste. Use it as a
gentle exfoliator for face. Note the pip is the rough “seed” and the ivory kernel is
what you need when split open the pip.

MAYONNAISE

Massage mayonnaise into your hair after shampoo. Leave it on for a few minutes
before rinse off. You can also use mayonnaise as a lip mask. Leave it on for 10
minutes before removing with cold water.

AVOCADOS

Mash a ripe one and use it as a facial mask; rinse off after 10 minutes. To get rid
of puffy eyes; use a linen cloth, make a “moneybag” filled with mashed avocado.
Dab it gently on eyes.

GINGER

Chop ginger and mix it with body lotion for a facial scrub. Avoid the sensitive eye
area.

MILK

Soak a cotton pad with cool fresh milk and press it gently all over your face.
Besides protein to feed your face, it gets rid of dirt thoroughly.

Chill a cup of milk in the fridge before pouring the contents into a clothes spray.
Use it like a spritzer over inflamed skin.

Warm a bowl of milk in the microwave for half a minute and pour contents into a
clothes basin. Soak your feet for half an hour and then give it a good hard brush
to remove dead skin.

TURMERIC

Mix two teaspoons of turmeric powder and one teaspoon of honey with just
enough warm water to make a thick paste. Spread the mixture all over your face
and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse off with water.

SUGAR

For a three-in-one pre-bath treatment; blend two tablespoons of brown sugar with
one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and two to three drops of olive oil. Rub the
paste over rough areas like the knees and elbows. Citric acid from the lemon
unclogs the pores, skin-polishing sugar gets rid of surface dirt and olive oil
moisture the skin.

CHERRIES

Run about 10 unripe cherries in a blender. Mix the juice with a tablespoon of dry
oatmeal and use as a five-minute facial mask.
For the body; mix cherry juice with a tablespoon of sea salt and massage over
damp skin.

HONEY

Dilute one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of water then heat it in the
microwave for 10 seconds. When it’s cooled, apply on your lips and leave for 10
minutes.

To dry out pimples, pour out a teaspoon of honey into a bowl. Dip a cotton bud
into the honey and apply on the spots.

EGGS

For a temporary facelift, use just the eggwhite. Mix it with a tablespoon of honey
and spread over face and throat in an upward motion. Leave on for 15 minutes
and rinse off with warm water.

Whisk egg yolk with a tablespoon of olive oil and leave on your hair for a few
minutes before your shampoo. It makes a great hair conditioner.

PAPAYA

Mash half a ripe papaya with two teaspoons of honey. Apply to areas of face that
are prone to wrinkles such as between the brows and along the sides of the
nose. Leave on it for 10 minutes.

What to do in case of sunburn?

What to do in case of sunburn?
http://www.femininbeaute.com/images/stories/coup_de_soleil/coup-de-soleil1.jpg
Poor protection, too long exposure, a very light skin ...
And sunburn is here!
Unsightly, painful, it requires as much care as burns ...
When it is too late to prevent that the sun hurts, we must now heal.
Here are some tips and recipes to relieve pain.

A sunburn is nothing less than a burn!
A first degree burn if you take time to realize, with second-degree blisters if you insist on staying on the beach.
A pity all the more regrettable that burned skin never tanned so far: after alopecia areata, you will get in the best a rosy skin.
Beware of UVB, the main cause of sunburn, very damaging to skin and health.

Kick soleilAlors what to do?
Do you re-coat no sunscreen!
No more than an after-sun product.
Perfect to pamper your skin after a day outdoors, it does not belong to repair a rash.
One solution: go to the pharmacy to buy a product designed for burns.
And it goes without saying that we should avoid exposing yourself as the celulas of the epidermis were not renewed.
And the shows must be very careful.

To choose wisely your sunscreen, consider the reverberation. Know that it is 2% on the grass, 5% in water, 20% sand and ... 80% on the snow!

kick-soleil2Pour treat a mild sunburn, try one of the following recipes:

Mix in a little bottle 6 tablespoons cider vinegar, 1 / 2 teaspoon of iodine, a few drops of oil of lavender.
Gently massage your skin with the oil obtained.

Or emulsify three teaspoons of rosewater, one teaspoon of liquid honey and a teaspoon of witch hazel.
Apply a compress on the painful parts.
