Montréal: All hands on deck for fall Philippe Dubuc's Collection

Montréal: All hands on deck for fall Philippe Dubuc's Collection

There was an unusual meeting yesterday on a ship berthed at Alexandra Dock massif in Montreal getting-hipper-by-the-second Vieux Port. Menswear designer Philippe Dubuc shot his fall campaign here and guests were invited to "jump on board."

Some journalists (I was not alone, was I?) Do not read the invitation carefully and if panting (read: freaked out) on the display scale (steep slopes and large) was the only entry point of the orthodox place. Not so serious in apartments, but for me in high heels, another story. My friend Georgia, wearing a mini skirt, was even more surprised. Sorry G! Besides the regular crew Montreal Fashion, guests included National Post Fashion writer Nathalie Atkinson and local television stars, including Virginia Coosa.

In the end it was worth the climb, the collection Dubuc did not disappoint. The work, even if the anchor, the vessel was perfect, tongue-in-cheek parameter for the fall of "Northern Sailor" theme. A take on the military aspect of becoming popular version Dubuc enrolled luxury boiled wool, nylon, jersey knits and ribbed in a subtle palette to create his drawings decidedly Fashion Forward: double breasted jackets with lapels and classic details closures Flash, sheepskin-lined jackets, marine, slim pants, vest straps, a hoodie / bib / jacket, and so on. In mid-gut of metal that appeared to be an engine room, the clothes mainly black and gray hung at varying heights made a juxtaposition of luxury with yards of yellow rope and life jackets orange. All horns while a loudspeaker sent registered, echoed almost strange effect in the room of sailors.

After guests previewed the new collection, they were led outside on the deck where they enjoyed miniature bottles of cider ice and looked away, as a photographer and longtime collaborator Martin Rondeau made three male models in the context of the Montreal skyline and Dubuc, dressed in hip-length pea coat, met face-to-head with the press. It was a cloudy day perfect. When asked what his plan B if the weather turned, Dubuc said there were none.

Bottoms up, then have a day of fashion on the waterfront.
